Mission of the Month

Your Missions Committee has selected “YMCA Bright Beginnings” as the Mission of the Month for June and asks for your support for this opportunity in mission. The YMCA Bright Beginnings is a community outreach program that provides children in need with the new clothes and school supplies needed to start the school year. Prior to the school year, the Y organizes planned shopping days and volunteers to shop one-on-one with a child. The kids meet their volunteer shopper, eat a healthy breakfast and then head out to find shirts, pants, shoes, socks, underwear and coats.

And at the end of the day, the kids receive a backpack filled with school supplies. A $150 donation will enable one of these children to start their school year with confidence and excitement; being able to concentrate on learning, making friends and looking forward to each school day. Please help our neighborhood children. Put “Bright Beginnings” in the memo field of a check this Sunday to support this worthwhile opportunity.

Food Drive for Summer Lunch Bunch

During June and July, let’s help support Summer Lunch Bunch. Their food needs are very simple: grape jam and creamy peanut butter. Let’s make a difference by providing some of these items that will go into making sandwiches for deserving children this summer. Some children’s books would be a great complement to the food items. Everything collected in this special offering is for our outreach to the King George Summer Lunch Bunch. Let’s lend a helping hand to children in our local community.
